We are providing today’s technician with the quality parts needed to get the job done right. Our ABS wheel speed sensors are manufactured by the high quality materials to match or exceed OEM part performance. It includes but not limited to these Features & Benefits: Sensor housing is made from high quality reinforced plastic, offering superior resistance to the elements OE connectors and terminals made from premium material are used to ensure an accurate, water-tight connection to the engine wire harness Grommets and wire clips are included where applicable per Original Equipment specifications to ensure proper mounting and routing within the car chassisTypically Features for this ABS SensorPlug and Play design for direct replacement and ease of installation Sealed wire connections for corrosion resistance Shielded wire harness for added protection from the elements and to reduce electrical noise and signal interference Hall sensors that detect forward and backward movement for more accurate readingsWhat is ABS Wheel Speed SensorAn ABS wheel speed sensor, also known as an anti-lock braking system (ABS) sensor, monitors the rotation speed of a vehicle’s wheels and sends that data to the ABS control module: The ABS control module then uses this information to adjust the braking pressure to prevent the wheels from locking up during hard braking. This helps the driver maintain steering control and avoid skidding, especially in slippery conditions. The ABS sensor is typically installed at the wheel’s hub or brake assembly. It consists of two components: Reluctor wheel or tone ring: Located on the axle, this rotates with the wheel. Magnetic or hall effect sensor: Sends the data to the ABS control module.Symptoms of a Failing ABS Wheel Speed SensorThe Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) sensor monitors wheel speed. Common failure symptoms include: ABS Light On Brake Pulsing No / Erratic Traction or Stability Control No / Erratic ABS Operation Braking Without Pedal ContactCauses of ABS sensor failureWhilst ABS sensors are a simple and generally robust part, their location on the vehicle makes them subject to harsh conditions and so the following causes are common: Physical damage to sensor from road debris Sensor out of position (or increased distance from wheel bearing) Breaks in wiring Internal short circuits Heavy contamination Corroded, cracked or swollen ABS ring ABS ring blocked, damaged, missing teeth or windows Problems with the ABS ring can be identified using an oscilloscope and analyzing the patterns as follows:How to Replace the ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Replacing an ABS sensor is usually a fairly straightforward task. The following steps will give you an idea of what the job usually involves. Note: The following are general guidelines for educational and entertainment purposes only. Consult your vehicleu2019s factory information for specific repair instructions and recommended safety procedures. Remove the old ABS sensor Put on your safety glasses. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Safely raise and support the vehicle using a jack and jack stands. Set the parking brake and chock the rear wheels. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ABS sensor harness. Use a ratchet to remove the ABS sensor retaining bolt. Youu2019ll also want to remove any fasteners holding the sensoru2019s wiring harness in place. Remove the ABS sensor from the vehicle. Compare the new ABS sensor to the old ABS sensor to ensure that both are the same design. Install the new ABS sensor. Reinstall the ABS sensor retaining bolt, along with any wiring harness retaining fasteners. Use a torque wrench to tighten all fasteners to the manufactureru2019s specification. Reconnect the ABS sensor electrical connector. Safely remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Use a scan tool or code reader to clear any related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
